Feathers & Harry Potter

Harry Potter the biggest series of books and movies in our generation is filled with great amounts of feathers.  But the only real feather outfit that I can remember from the movies or maybe the only one that got any attention was Fleur Delacour`s wedding dress.
Of course they are all writing with feather quills while at Hogwarts and there all the awesome owls. Lets not forget about the feathered magical creatures like the Phoenix and the Hippogriff.

Lets us say a few words here about owl feathers. Owls are considered to be a wild bird and there for the sale of their feathers are restricted. So even if you would like to purchase some of Hedwig’s beautiful white feather you can’t.
Now Buckbeak the Hippogriff is really a robot made with thousands of airbrushed goose and chicken feathers.

And to finish off how can I not bring up the number one actress of the Harry Potter movies, Emma Watson, who loves the feather fashion.

Here she is in two feather outfits looking absolutely magical.

Celebrity Feather Fashion Christmas 2014

Now with Christmas and new years behind us and nothing but the biting cold of the remaining winter months to keep us busy, the best thing to do is to take a look at some of the great feather outfits that we may have missed over the holidays.

After searching the internet to see what I may have missed over Christmas, I was surprised to find out that I didn’t miss much. There were only three celebs that I found this year sporting feathers for the holiday.

The first to come up was this super expensive mini dress that Lindsay Lohan wore to the Chopard Christmas party in London this year.

This stunning liquid sequin feather trimmed mini dress was made by the English designer Matthew Williamson and is worth over $5,000.

Hey what good is money if you don’t spend it.

Next we find Cara Delevingne in a feather trimmed white dress while promoting the holiday line for Topshop.

And the last celeb that I found sporting feathers this holiday season was Lady Gaga.
We have seen her sporting feathers before in a number of her outfits so I was not so surprised to see her hitting the streets of New York City covered in these beautiful white feathers.

Turkey Feather Dresses

Have you started to give any thought to what you are going to wear this year to the Thanksgiving dinner?

Well there is always the chance that you are doing a family dinner and you can just show up in you pajamas if you want to, but if you are looking to get dressed up for the occasion why not try a turkey feather dress. This way you can really be getting into the holiday spirit and if you are looking to impress someone there, here is your chance. Just take a look at some of these smoking hot turkey feather dresses and see if there is something that you would like to put on for this year’s thanks giving dinner.

This first one is pretty simple and in that lays its beauty. It is just a simple strapless dress with a long turkey feather bottom. This dress won Lauren Chronister second place in a womens eveningwear contest in 2011

Simple Easy And original Feather Head Piece

So after toying around with some ideas for a new feather head piece for Halloween this year, we came up with this super easy one that so much can be done with it.

Ostrich fringe on BIAS tape is so beautiful and easy to work with that it made the perfect answer to our search.

All you need to do is measure it out around your head to find the perfect fit and then put in the stitch to hold it at the tailor fit size that you want.

Now the amazing thing about this super simple head piece is that it looks great just like that. One stitch and you can be done.

Of course I am planning on adding some peacock feathers to the ends so that it has a prettier look in the back.

Of course you can also add some colorful plums to the front to add even more flare to the whole thing.

While we were working on this we got some really great ideas that I can’t wait to share with you all, but that is going to have to wait until after Halloween.

Feather Fashion In The Movies

Feathers have always been seen in the movies of Hollywood so I just decided to take a few of them and bring them into the spotlight here.

Just take a look at Gloria Swanson in this awesome feather head piece from the 1922 movie “Her Gilded Cage”

Here you can see Joan Bennett in the 1930 wearing a large collar of black feathers.

After we enter the age of cooler films we can appreciate this 70s style feather dress that Salma Hayek is wearing in the MRAMAX Movie “54”

This dress that Elizabeth Banks wore in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a really interesting one. It’s a butterfly dress which is made up of about 10,000 feathers. The kind of thing you will only see in Hollywood.

For now I will just finish off with this simple feather head piece and feather fan which Alexandra Byrne is sporting in the film “Elizabeth The Golden Age”
