A New Thought On How To Add Feather Trim To A Dress

Everyone has the things in life that they are good at. Most of us also have the things in life that we specialize in and I believe that this is what makes a person a success, having one or two fields that they are much more than just good at.

Of course this is not a motivation post, but hey why not maybe that one or two sentences will wake something up in someone who reads them.

The point I am making is there are things that I might be good at but I am not great.

Yesterday I wrote a post about attaching feather Boas to a skirt vertically and today I came across a photo that made me think about how to use the same idea for feather trim.

look closely at the picture at the top of the post, can you see the feather trim going up the length of the skirt?

That could be a very cool way to add feather magic to any skirt.

As I was talking about being really good at something, well I found a great mini tutorial about how to attach feather trim from theladydetalle. She is very good at what she does and I loved the detailed tutorial that she put together.

Here is the link..

I hope you enjoy.

A New DIY Feather Skirt For The Summer

We have written a number of feather posts about how to make a feather skirt using boas in the past, but this one is a bit different from the others.

In this short video you get a good idea how to create your own feather dance skirt easily using feather boas.

You really don't need much to take on this project.

Because it is a dance skirt the fact that the boas are attached vertically gives you the advantage of more movement.

Like a lot of people these days when I am looking for an instructive video I don't want it to be longer than needed, actually the shorter the better as long as it gives over the information needed.

I have to give credit and thanks to Bdancewear.com for putting together a video that is both short and descriptive.

You Can Make Boutique Feather Dresses

If you have a dream of becoming a dressmaker it's always good to find someone who has already done it successfully to learn from.

I know that we have spoken about all the big name designers here and have shown you all of their stunning feather dresses, but what about the smaller dress makers?

It is actually interesting because just last night my wife was telling me that the small “Ma & Pa” stores of America are a thing of the past. She was saying that they have all been put out of business by Walmart.

Well I must say that I thought to agree with her but at least now I see that there are still small Boutique businesses that are able to flourish.

Modehaus is a boutique custom wedding dress designer in Minneapolis.

Of course the reason that I came across them is because they have made some stunning wedding dresses with a white feather trim.

But the point that I am trying to make by showing you this beautiful small business is that if you have been following our blog for some time and have been toying with the idea of creating your own feather wardrobe, use Modehaus as a source of inspiration that it can be done.

If you browse through their website and read some of their stories you will see that they are really doing something that they love and believe in while
providing a one of a kind service for their clients.

Tom Ford 2019 Ready To Wear Collection

2019
Tom Ford is showing off a much calmer look for this years Spring/Summer collection.
2018
In the words of Vogue journalist Nicole Phelps “The master of fabulous excess and full-tilt glamour is opting for simplicity”

Nicole also covered his New York show last year and the difference in overall vibe is just screaming at you.

As you can see from the pictures, Tom has really toned down his style this year.

” I always begin each collection as a reaction to the previous season. I feel that fashion has somehow lost it’s way a bit and it is easy for all of us to be swept up in trends that have lost touch with what women and men want to actually wear. So I did not want to make clothes that were ironic, or clever but simply clothes that were beautiful.

This season I decided to take some time to think about why I wanted to become a fashion designer and what it was that I loved doing and consequently what I feel men and women really want in their lives. I became a fashion designer because I wanted to make men and women feel more beautiful and to empower them with a feeling of confidence. A feeling of knowing that they looked their best and could then present their best selves to the world. I wanted to make clothes that were flattering. That make one look taller and slimmer and more beautiful or more handsome.

There is a direct relationship in both color and mood this season in the menswear and the womenswear as men’s inspired pieces are important in the women’s collection and the softness in color and cut are often important in the men’s collection. Both collections are unified in color, mood and a certain romance”. – Mr. Tom Ford

The one thing that I can not figure out are the head coverings, but I guess thats just me.
