Feather Fashion In The Movies

Feathers have always been seen in the movies of Hollywood so I just decided to take a few of them and bring them into the spotlight here.

Just take a look at Gloria Swanson in this awesome feather head piece from the 1922 movie “Her Gilded Cage”

Here you can see Joan Bennett in the 1930 wearing a large collar of black feathers.

After we enter the age of cooler films we can appreciate this 70s style feather dress that Salma Hayek is wearing in the MRAMAX Movie “54”

This dress that Elizabeth Banks wore in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a really interesting one. It’s a butterfly dress which is made up of about 10,000 feathers. The kind of thing you will only see in Hollywood.

For now I will just finish off with this simple feather head piece and feather fan which Alexandra Byrne is sporting in the film “Elizabeth The Golden Age”

Feather Fashion Fall 2014

Of course we have a wide range of great new feather rich cloths for this year’s fall collection but I only have the time to bring up the three designers who really caught my attention this far.

I really like the Just Cavalli line.

Last year’s theme that was strong by her was Love & Activism which was really great.

No need to say this year’s line is stunning as well.

Prabal Gurung also put a lot of feathers in his fall collection this year and in my opinion he is taking a bit of a more classy approach.

And then we have Nicole Miller who brought out the peacock feather dress put gives us the option to take just the shirt or skirt if we want.

Start getting ready for summer now with these feather sunglasses.
This is one trend the you can get to be one of the first.
Take a look at these great shades and just try and see yourself in them struting down the beach with your toes digging into the nice worm sand.
Now that its starting to get warm outside you can start to get your summer wardrobe together.

Feathers in Fashion - Spring 2014

Every season is great for feathers but I think that the spring and summer are the best seasons for feathers.

Here are just a few of the great feather designs for this year’s spring fashion.

Armani used feathers in one of these dresses that you see below. This spring’s fashion collection from the seasoned designer shows the sophisticated and fairy-tale like vibes that we all know well.

This hairstyle trend of Indian braids just goes best when the feather is added. In this photo below it is shown done very well with these outfits by Nicholas K.

For Gareth Pugh these two outfits below are much more cheerful then the designs the artist is bets know for. Pugh is known best for his more dark and Gothic designs but here he seems to have gotten just a bit into the spring spirit.

Alexander McQueen who is also know well for his Gothic style brought us this outfit for spring 2014. Below we can see this masterpiece in red and black and also in white and black.

Spring Festival Feather Costumes

Here are two great feather additions that I was able to snap pictures of at this spring masquerade festival that I was at a few weeks ago.

It was a really great party along this rode in downtown.

It was even great for the kids.

This first shot is of feather eyelashes.
And these next two are of these great feather wings that this girl made.

In addition to the wings she also has a feather hat and arm bands.

Its great to see people really decorate their costumes with feathers.

Feather Fashion In History

I always say the life and the world as a whole are going in a circle. That something that is in style now was in style once before and will be in style once again in the future.

It’s more of a spiral then just a circle because there is always a change.

So feathers in fashion was, is and always will be.

Here are some pictures of feather fashion from the 1800`s.

This first one if from Wikipedia, it is from an article on the feather boa.

They say it’s a picture of a woman wearing a feather boa from 1892.

I really don’t see how you could tell it’s a feather boa from the picture.

Here is a plate from a monthly magazine in 1830 showing women’s hats decorated with feathers.

The picture below is a pen and black ink graphite depiction from the late 1700`s of a woman in a hat decorated with large feathers.

This last picture is from a post on the history of the feathered hat. Here is the link for those of you who would like to read up more on the subject.

If you have any great sites with feather fashions in history post a link and share it with us.
