VOGUE Summer 2016 – A New Way To Wear Feathers

This new way to wear feathers for the summer of 2016 is described on the Vogue website as follows.

“A multitude of white, red and black feathers woven together in haute couture ateliers in Paris, were layered over simple Nineties-style dresses at Proenza Schouler.”

Now to me this is just a fancy way of saying that they created a beautiful feather netting that can be worn on top of a plain dress and turn it into something stunning.

What really interests me is if this this idea can be taken on by some of our younger designers as well.

Let me explain what I am thinking. The question is if a hobbyist designer can create a feather garment which is meant to go over something else and not cover but decorate.

Take a look at these pictures and you can decide for yourself.

Feather Outfits From The MET GALA 2016

The Met Gala is a fund raiser that is held once a year for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts and Costume Institute in New York City.

It can also be called the Met Ball and is formally known as the Costume Institute Gala.

It always attracts some of the biggest names in Hollywood so of course it is a great place to see some of the most stunning outfits.

The fashion designs that arrive on the red carpet at the Met Gala are so influential to the future fashion trends to be said as even historical.

But what really interests us are those who arrived in feather fashions and if that is going to be trend setting for the coming future then we have what to look forward to.

First up we have Reta Ora who arrived on the red carpet in a stunning silver feather gown that could have come straight out of a fantasy movie.

The British singer and actress had her dress made by the American fashion designer Vera Wang.

Next up we have the American actress and dancer Zoe Saldana. Zoe arrived on the red carpet in a beautiful multi colored feather gown made by the luxury Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana.

Last but definitely not least we have Soairse Ronan. Now this Irish American may just be my new favorite actress. Soairse hit the red carpet at the Met Gala this year wearing a Christopher Kane embroidered feather gown that was breathtaking.
