How To Make Feather Wings - Video Tutorials

Awesome Videos – How To Make Costume Wings

So I have written a post on how to make costume wings using real feathers before, but these are really great videos and I hope that I am giving enough credit to the people who made them here.

I want it to be very clear that I didn’t make the videos and I hope that if you like them you will give them a thumbs up on YouTube.

I will be honest with you the last one is the coolest but you should still have at least a quick look at all of them.

This first one from TheSorryGirls is the simplest and best explained in my opinion. And what is even cooler is that its about how to make Victoria Secret style wings which goes perfectly with the VS vibe that has been going on here.

But really I didn’t choose this topic because of that, at least consciously that is, who knows what our minds are really doing behind the scenes right?

YoshFHP put this video together. She explains everything really well but the thing that bothered me was the music, its just not my style. Oh and I am just much better of a listener than I am a reader so that made them less appealing to me but to each their own. You should definitely take a look at it.

Now these last two are by Alexis Linicome. She actually sold these on her website for as much as two thousand dollars. She is currently sold out of everything on the website but you can check out her blog for more information.

The New Halloween Feather Wreath

The New Halloween Feather Wreath

So we have written about making your own feather wreath for Halloween in the past but this year I had this great idea for a new and improved model.

The wreath that I have in mind would have this cool skull sitting on a shelf in its center.

What is cool and different and spooky about it is that it has a sensor that will turn it on to make scary sounds when some one comes to knock on your door.

My idea is simple yet it would involve a bit of wood working.

Well first you would have to order this guy from Amazon here is the link.

https://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Imports-Motion-Activated-Glowing/dp/B00NY956NU

Then a few feather boas of what ever dark colors you decide.

Now comes the carpentry.

Cut a circle out of  a piece of ply wood. Make sure that you have enough room at the center for a small shelf to put the scull on.

And then glue the boas around the edge of the plywood circle.

And then decorate accordingly.

DIY Feather Lingerie

There are a lot of reasons why this post is supper relevant right now.

First off there is the Victoria Secret fashion show that is coming up soon. I have not seen a final date set, but we do know that it is going to be in New York.

Because we are also based out of New York it is right in place for us to be going wit that flow of feather decked out lingerie.

Also I just recently posted about dressing up in a Moulin Rouge costume for Halloween and this falls right into place with that.

Oh right did I mention that its about to be Halloween?

So here are a couple youtube videos giving you step by step instructions exactly how to put one of these sexy pieces together.

This first video is pretty simple on how to make a feather bra with feather boas.

BritxBrat2Fashion is a professional designer so you know that she tells you how to do it right.

Next is this video by ShadeoftheUniverse “DIY Feather Trim Baby Doll Lingerie Dress”

https://youtu.be/1VnOoaxb_I8

This last video by BqueenBoutique is a bit longer, but that is because this feather robe that she shows you how to make is a much bigger project than the other two.

Now you are ready to do your own Victoria Secret style fashion show for Halloween.

Isn’t that a great idea?

Awesome DIY Peacock Feather Costume

This a great costume and Jennae gives very detailed and easy to follow instructions how to put this costume together.

Jennae Petersen is the chief blogger for the website greenyourdecor.com

She started the web site with really great intensions and it seems like she is doing a great job.

I personally am a huge supporter of anything that is focused on improving our natural world or helping to preserve it. This is the main focus of greenyourdecor.com and more power to them.

The instructions she gives are great and need nothing else besides for what she tells you.

And of course a bunch of peacock feathers.

Here is the link to read exactly how to make this awesome costume.

Feather Moulin Rouge Costume

If you ask me there is not anything different from the Las Vegas show girl costume and the Moulin Rouge costume. That may just be because the Moulin Rouge is where it all started.

The Moulin Rouge is really the name of the cabaret where the whole show girl and Cancan dancing thing started.

Its also the term that has been keyed to describe the Paris night life at the turn of the 1900`s.

To put this costume together all you really need is to add a whole lot of bling to some nice lingerie.

You can do this really easy with feather boas, feather masks and feather hair pins.

Of course you can get even more over the top with huge feather head pieces.

For the guys coat tails, top hats and a gray feather boa will do just the trick.

Oh and don’t forget to go wild with the colors and add some rhinestones, lace and net to the costume.

Go Goth With A Black Feather Cape

So I saw this cool trench coat on Punkdesign.shop, here is the link.

https://punkdesign.shop/products/goth-hooded-long-cloak-with-feathered-collar?variant=612871110673

Now if this is something that you are going to wear all the time, or at least not just on Halloween, then it is definitely worth it to spend the money.

But if you are just looking to go goth for Halloween with this sort of thing then you could just make yourself a cool black feather cape and wear it on top of a long black coat.

It is actually very easy using feather fringe some black cloth and a hot glue gun.

The thing is if you want to make this bigger you need to attach a few rows of feather to the cloth, other wise you could just use the fringe as is.

Remember that you need to attach the bottom fringe to the cloth first.

Here is a video showing how it's done the old fashion way but it gives you a good idea.

How To Make A Feather Mohawk

These things are really cool looking.

I saw them first in pictures from Burning Man.

They are very similar to the traditional American Indian head piece, known as a war bonnet, worn by men but I think that they should be less offensive to those who find the use of those as a fashion piece disgraceful.

As you can see there are a lot of different style options to choose from with these feather Mohawks.

This one above was made using pheasant feathers. It is supper cool in my opinion, but I guess you need to find the one that fits your outfit.

`Here is a link to a tutorial on how to make one of these, this is for all of you who need to have something written out, for the rest of you I found a great video tutorial.

Do It Yourself – Elton John Costume

So to tell you the truth all you really need to put together a super cool Elton John costume is a bunch of feather boas and those sun glasses.

Honestly I think that the sun glasses are the most important part.

Or maybe the most important thing is to make sure to wear the craziest colors that you can find.

Yes you can get a lot more complicated with this costume like the one you see in the picture below.

She added a few LED lights and won a contest. Here is the link to the site where she explains.

http://www.costume-works.com/elton_john-2.html

Any way you can see here a picture of a costume that some one put together to look like the picture at the top.

It is really a simple one. All you need is a white outfit and then put together the shoulder pads with cardboard and white feather trim.

Here is a video that gives you a good idea how to put these together.

Oh and of course the glasses.
