This one gets the award for the most outrageous.
Bridging the gap between OMG-gorgeous and OMG-OMG are these stunning Giles headpieces—sure, not something an ordinary, stylish woman would wear in real life, but they're so exquisitely and delicately crafted... Do you prefer the porcupine one or the feather one? I'm really torn.

What do our feathered friends do during a hurricane?
Like use birds know ahead of time that a hurricane is coming. They are extremely sensitive to even slight shifts in barometric pressure. Depending on the kind of the bird and the location that it finds itself in when it catches the news of bad weather, the bird will chose from one of three options.
Some birds will chose to sit tight and ride out the storm on the ground. Wood peckers for instance will hunker down in their hollowed out tree until the storm passes. This option just like all of the others has its possible down fall. In this case it would be the obvious, which if the tree doesn't make it through the storm then the bird is out of luck.
Some birds just evacuate. The problem with this is that even if they get caught up in the outer winds of the storm they could still wind up hundreds if not thousands of miles away from the homes.
Some birds take the braves rout and fly with the storm itself. They can either stay in the eye of the storm where the weather is calm or the can actually ride the winds in order to increase their flying speed. This course of actions is very trying on the birds because it forces them to go long stretches of time without food or rest. These brave birds can also find themselves at the end of the storm many miles from home.
With Hurricane Sandy many birds were lucky because of its coming late in the migration season most of the birds had already migrated south for the winter.

You can make a feather wreath for Halloween really easily.
All you need is a feather boa, wire hanger, masking tape and some fishing wire.
All you need to do is make a circle with the wire hanger using the making tape to connect the two ends. Then attach one end of the feather boa to the wire hanger using the fishing wire.
Now all you need to do is wrap the boa around the wire hanger and attach the other end using the fishing wire.
After this your wreath is ready, now it is up to you to haunt it with some skeletons, witches and goblins and stuff.
If you want to see some of my personal favorite Halloween feather wreaths take a look at my post

Our dark black extra large feather boa could go great with a number of Halloween costumes for both males and females.
The extra large boa may be too large for smaller children but if you kid wants to dress up as a vampire queen then one of our smaller size black or red boas could be perfect.
Also you could choose our other colors such as orange or pink to suite your costume.
Boas can be the perfect added touch to any kind of Halloween costume.
I think that the three best feather boas for Halloween are:
1- Turkey Ruff Boa Two-Tone – Oversized
2- Turkey Ruff Boa – Oversized
3- Turkey Ruff Boa w/ Ostrich
I really like these boas for Halloween because I just feel that red and black are two of the best colors for the occasion.

Germans started to make their Christmas trees out of feather because they didn’t want to chop down real trees.
Now they would make these as Christmas trees but by just changing up the colors you can make a Halloween tree and decorate it with plastic skulls and pumpkin heads.
The process of making these really cool trees is pretty simple and I am going to explain it to you here.
What you will need
1- Orange feathers
2- Thick wire that you can bend but will hold its shape
3- Black floral tape
4- Small Black plastic berries
5- Black crepe paper
6- Paper glue
7- Thin wire for wrapping (about 26 gauge)
8- 3 inch wood cube with a hole drilled in the center to use as a base
First measure out thirteen pieces of the thicker wire.
1 piece – 13 inches (gets 3 inches of feather wrapping)
3 pieces – 5 inches (get 2 inches of feather wrapping)
4 pieces – 6 inches (get 4 inches of feather wrapping)
5 pieces – 9.5 inches (get 5.5 inches of feather wrapping)
The instructions are the same as the ones I give in “How To Make A Feather Tree”.
Now cover each piece with the black floral tape and attaché a plastic berry to the end, these are the branches of your tree. To create the leaves on the branches attach a feather to the end of the branch right under the berry attach the stem of the feather to the branch so that the hairs on the feather start by the berry and go out over the end of the branch. Wrap the feather around the branch so that the feather hairs should fan out to create the leaves. Follow the list above for how many inches of feather wrapping each branch should get.
Bend each branch except for the thirteen inch one, to a ninety degrees angle right at the end of the flower wrapping. Attach the braches to the long straight piece which is the trunk, using the floral tape. The three five inch pieces go directly under the top feather wrapping on the trunk. Then the four pieces get attached three inches under them. And the five pieces three inches under them. Put some glue along the trunk and cover the whole trunk with the black crepe paper. Stand the tree up in the base and you are ready to decorate it.
This is going to be a very simple explanation on how you can feather fletch an arrow.
Professionals will use a rig to do this and some other more complex tools but here I am going to explain how you can do this yourself with basic material you can find around your house.
What you will need
• Some cardboard
• Arrow shafts
• Turkey feathers
• Scissors
• Glue
• 60˚ angle
• Marker
For arrow shafts you can use any straight and thin wooden poles.
If you want to get more professional about it you can read about different wood types and where you can order real wood arrow shafts at http://www.stickbow.com/FEATURES/ARROWMAKING/wood.cfm .
Now first build your rig out of cardboard.
Cut a rectangle four inches wide and twenty inches long.
Bend each end four inches from the end and make a small triangle notch in the center.
Slice a line down the center of the notch one inch down.
Cut another rectangle two inches wide and fifteen inches long.
Make two one inch slices 12 inches apart and attach to the slices in the folded up sections of the other cardboard piece.
Now mark a line at a 60˚ from the upper edge of your newly built rig right from the center of the notch.
Take your turkey feathers and cut them in half down the center of the stem.
Sand down the stem so it should be as flat as possible.
Now attaching the first feather is easy. Place the shaft in the rig, put some glue on the sanded side of the feather stem and attach to the length of the shaft about one inch from the edge.
The second and third feathers just need to be attached 60˚ the first and second.
Use the markings on the rig to space the feathers 60˚ apart.
After you have attached the feathers you can trim them to your desired shape.
Here is a video to show you how the pros do this.

I feel like this post may be just a drop late being that it`s already after the start of the school year. But hey you can still get a new backpack right.
So here you have two pictures of feather bags.
One is not the kind that you would consider a school bag but it`s there to give you an idea of what you can do with the school bag you already have.
Now you can buy this peacock feather print school bag for $25 or you can buy some colorful feathers and turn your backpack into a work of feather art.

Now the secret that I have found to make this super easy is all in the glue that you use.
FABRI-TAC permanent adhesive is the trick you need to simply add beautiful feathers to you backpack.
Try it out and send us pics!!
So what are you going to wear to the club tonight?
Whether it’s a big date or just a night out with the girls need to take some time deciding what to wear out.
Now if you are going out to a club then you need to think differently than if you are going out to a romantic dinner and the opera.
When you are going to the club you want to be able to dance, so more often then not the shorter skirts are going to be the better choice.
Also in my opinion when you go to a club you want to be noticed.
That is unless you are just going to dance you soul out and that’s all you care about.
But even if you are going with a partner you want them to notice you more than the other girls there.
Feather skirts are a great choice to get their attention on you.
Here are four skirts that I think would be perfect to hit the dance floor in.

I know that there is nothing really feathery about tattoos but after seeing some amazing feather tattoos out there I truly felt that the topic was deserving of a post.
Creating beautiful depictions of feathers is always something that grabs my attention. All the more so when those depictions are on the human flesh.
Do you think it makes people feel closer to birds or perhaps we all really would love a pair of wings to sore through the skies.

So from what I have seen there are a bunch of different kinds of feather tattoos.
The most common seems to be the single feather on the back of the neck.
And of course it is more often than not a peacock eye feather.
After that I would say the simple feather tattoo on the foot seem to be the most common.
This I saw on a girl that I met when buying shoes. I really wanted to take a picture of it but she wouldn’t let me.

Next would be the feather tattoo right behind and under the ear. This one I think is really great because its like having permanent feather earrings that never get stuck in anything.
Another feather tattoo that is pretty common is the picture of a feather that is falling apart and the pieces are turning into birds. This one is pretty Goth looking, I think its cool.
You have any cool feather tattoo pictures you want to share with us?
