A Last Minute Feather Costume Idea For Halloween

Did you put off the kid's costume until the last minute again this year?

Well, let us see if this could help you out.

I came across the web page linked below and liked what I read but it took me a while to visualize it. Short and to the point descriptions are really good but this one was missing something.

OK if you read the article it seems to be missing a few things but I just could not pinpoint them. Yes I know because they were not there.

It is a great few ideas for getting by on a kids costume for cheap and last minute but the one that I wanted to talk about here as is the chicken costume, yes of course because it is the one that uses feathers, a feather boa to be exact.

The thing is that they write about a chicken hat but don't show you any pictures so it was hard for me to visualize the thing.

After my extensive research on the subject (just joking it was just one Google search), I found that the idea was from marthastewart.com “Chicken Costume Project”.

Martha Stewart gives you some good pictures so that you get an idea of what the thing is going to look like. And of course, she starts the article with “Why did he chicken cross the road”.

What was the answer to that one anyway?

Well, the chicken costume is an easy and quick fix that won't cost you too much.

So if you really did leave the kids costume until the last minute, here you are.

Happy Halloween...

Feather Fashion From The 2019 Venice Film Festival

We really love it when our movie stars and models show up wearing feathers.

So of course I was happy to see this article from “The Hollywood Reporter”.

Is it not obvious to everyone that if you are going to call an article anything with the words “best looks” you are sure to see at least a few pictures of feathers. Ok ok I know I am being just a little bit biased.

Any ways lets just jump right into it and see who was wearing what feathers to the show, or I mean the festival.

Peneope Cruz dazzled the crowd wearing a weight tierer Ralph and Russo gown with a slightly feather decorated torso.

The supermodel Iman really took the feathers to the extreme by showing up on the red carpet in a head to toe Valentino haute couture feather gown.

French actress Catherine Deveuve really impressed me with her fiery red vest with a feathery hem, by Jean Paul.

I always get this feeling that the French just do fashion right.

Martha Hunt is the last on our list of feather fashion stars for today. Martha wore this sizzling hot gown and I just must quote the article from the website here.

“Martha Hunt
The model (who also got the feather trend memo) donned a strapless, custom Alberta Ferretti gown with a bodice decked out in plumage and a sheer black skirt with a train that trailed regally behind her at the La Vérité (The Truth) screening.”

Prabal Gurung Feather Fashion

Whenever I come across a new designer I check the blog to make sure that I have not already written about them and forgotten. For the most part if they seem new to me I can't find them even mentioned previously, but that was not the case with Prabal Gurung.

I had mentioned them in two posts in the past, one in 2013 and another in 2014, but I guess that's more than five years ago so I can forgive myself for not remembering.

So what I am going to do is show five feather designs by Prabal Gurung, one for every year since I last wrote about them.

Here we have our first dress from their Spring 2015 Ready-To-Wear collection.

Next up for our 2016 Prabal Gurung design, we fond Cate Blanchett in one of their feather  skirts.

For 2017 they brought us this simple yet stunning off the shoulder, feather decorated sweater.

Last but not least in 2018 they created this magical silver dress with feather trim.

Feathers And Positivity - New York Fashion Week

For those of us who live in the parts of the world that change colors in the fall, the stunning show of nature is about to begin.

I grew up in Miami and didn't see this wonder until we happened to be in New York visiting family one year during the fall. The fun of diving into huge piles of leaves was a true novelty for me.

While some of us might be loathing the coming of winter, but the New York Fashion Week is all about Springtime joy, positivity and of course feathers.

I was personally touched by Marc Jacobs words “This show, like that show, is a celebration of life, joy, equality, individuality, optimism, happiness, indulgence, dreams, and a future unwritten as we continue to learn from the history of fashion,”.

Some people love the winter, the cold and the snow. While others can not wait for the winter to end.

So for those of you who hate the winter, just know that the New York Fashion Week is already talking Spring.

Now for the line up of which designers put feathers out on the catwalk for their Spring 2020 styles.

Marc Jacobs brought out a real head to toe feather design with the colors of spring flowers.

Prabal Gurung displayed these two elegant feather dresses, they make me think of a cocktail party, or maybe that is just because I would like a cocktail.

This silky silver beauty with a feathered upper is the creation of Jason Wu.

Ralph Lauren amazed us by showing a tight black dress with feather trim neckline that flowed with their business suits.

Hope I didn't miss anything. Today is the last day of the New York Fashion Week, so maybe we'll see more.

Dior - Caryatids - Feathers

Veiled in mystery, a great unknown that gives off a hint to its existence like the most expensive perfume, so slight that you barely can tell that it's even there.

These seem to be the feelings surrounding the Chritian Dior winter 2019-2020 show.

Caryatids, the female form of Atlas, these female forms that are used to hold up the temples of Greece are known to be a sign of feminism, perhaps showing how the woman is the one who holds up the world.

Well I can say one thing for sure, in my house the woman is the one who keeps it all together.

The symbol of the caryatids was the central theme of the Dior show which took place in an enchanted garden.

Two of the styles that were displayed were black and feather adorned, both with a touch of fine lace.

what would you call a long time to create a dress?

You should take this into consideration, the dress at the top of this post took over eight hundred hours to make, I would call that a long time.

Cecilie Bahnsen

Cecilie Bahnsen Feather Fashion - Copenhagen Fashion Week

If I have ever in the past described a designer as new and up-in-coming, then Cecilie Bahnsen is the most new and up-in-coming designer that I have ever come across.

This woman only finished her M.A in 2010, less than ten years if you needed help with the math, and she already has her own brand. Which she started in 2015.

But what I found to be amazing was that there isn't really anything about her on the internet. Yes there is a page about her on Wikipedia but its really short, and also I had to have Google translate it from Dutch.

So what we know is that Cecilie is originally from Copenhagen and that she returned to her native city to create her brand. How old is Cecilie? I could not find out on the internet, but hey maybe I will get in touch with her on Instagram and find out.

It is written on her website that her goal is to create “effortless designs that will last”, which flows beautifully with her want to celebrate the Scandenavian design culture which is all about simplicity, minimalism and functionality.
